Fan Festival 2011: Day 2
Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 12:07 Friday, March 25, 2011 - I didn't have much of good morning having been up all night talking to friends on Skype leaving me very little time to sleep. Completely my own fault but hey, "sleep when you die" right? Because of that, I missed two of the events I was really looking forward to attending;
- Eve on Mac, Round Table I: because of the fact that I play and run tests on the OSX client. Big-ups to the Mac client!
- Women in EVE, Round Table III, because I am a mjor supporter of female gaming and was genuinely interested in what views the female player base had about various topics. Apparently, this talk only permitted female participants :(
I caught up with Kelduum and some other EVE University members in the lounge area. I was really great to meet new people from all walks of life. Soon after, we went along to the presentation called, TQ's New Toys, which talked mostly about the hardware technologies running the EVE servers, past, present and future. A very impressive presentation and very technical. I mean, 460GB of RAM (Memory) OMGWTF Awesome! And it takes 22GB of memory just to manage the rest of memory. The Database is 1.7TB in size too!

Following that presentation, we went to see the Keynote showcase in Tranquility, however we were waiting in line for about 30 minutes for the doors to open (which by the way, bottle necked about 2,000 people through one door frame).
The presentation itself opened with some numbers showing current and past FanFest attendance, EVE Players etc... Pretty impressive I think for a game that operates all in one server.

Below is the video I recorded showing the current development stage of the Captain's Quarters, complete with ship hangar.
